CMD:
Recognize and treat temporomandibular joint disease
Every CMD Situation is Unique
Discomfort in the jaw area can significantly impair your quality of life. Pain and clicking in the temporomandibular joint, a limited mouth opening, tense masticatory muscles, headaches, tinnitus (also known as tinnitus) or pain in the face and neck area are typical symptoms that can often indicate a “Craniomandibular Dysfunction (CMD).”
We specialize in this dysfunction of the masticatory system. In our CMD consultation, we can make a clear diagnosis and safely accompany appropriate therapy involving other specialist disciplines. Our goals: To alleviate your symptoms and gain new quality of life for you.
Only those who have undergone correct diagnostics by an expert in craniomandibular dysfunctions have the chance to combat the causes and thus alleviate symptoms. We are happy to be your reliable partner in this case. Contact us if you have any questions about your problem or to arrange an individual consultation appointment.

Manual Structural Analysis as a Diagnostic Element
Our CMD-specialized treatment team uses comprehensive functional diagnostics according to Prof. Axel Buman to effectively determine which parts of the masticatory system are damaged and which therapeutic measures are appropriate for your diagnosis.
We first examine your complaints specifically with the help of Manual Structural Analysis (MSA) according to Prof. Axel Bumann. The individual joints, tissues and muscles are stressed by gentle pressure with the hands. From the results of this stress test – similar to a stress ECG – we create an exact diagnosis. This enables us to recommend a suitable, individual treatment for your symptoms.

“The splint was a game changer. My tension has become much less.”

Potential Solutions from our Practice
Therapy options could be, for example:
- A physiotherapy treatment. For this, we work with specialized manual therapists and osteopaths
- Decoupling the bite to relieve the temporomandibular joints. An individually made, comfortable to wear, bite splint can help with this.
- New crowns or dentures. In some cases, this helps to restore the bite correctly. For these very complex and elaborate reconstructions, we have developed special processes and are very experienced in their implementation.
Important here is the long-standing and trusting cooperation with specialized dental laboratories.
