How long does it take to get used to a full denture?<\/svg><\/summary>\n

The acclimatization period for a full denture varies from person to person. You have to retrain your oral muscles and tongue, which have long been accustomed to your old situation. This usually takes a few days to weeks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to our methods according to Prof. Gutwoski, which ensure a good fit and bite of your dentures, there are only a few pressure points. We check during the planned follow-up checks where the causes lie and eliminate them. <\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Can I eat normally with a full denture?<\/strong><\/strong><\/svg><\/summary>\n

With a well-fitted full denture, you can eat well. It holds through suction and a balanced bite. The prerequisites for this depend, among other things, on how well your jawbone is preserved. Maxillary dentures suck better due to the larger area than mandibular dentures. The experience of our patients shows that the chewing function improves with the new dentures and in most cases denture adhesive can be dispensed with. <\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

How often do full dentures need to be adjusted?<\/strong><\/strong><\/svg><\/summary>\n

When we have made new dentures for you, the aftercare follows, i.e. the removal of pressure points and the fine adjustment of the bite over 1-2 weeks. As a rule, we recommend an annual check-up. An adjustment should be made if your jaw has changed, e.g. if you have lost a lot of weight, or your teeth are significantly worn, which depends on your chewing activity. In these cases, we can perform a relining and bite adjustment. This may be necessary sometimes after only 1-2 years, but usually only after several years. <\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

What care is necessary for full dental prostheses?<\/strong><\/strong><\/svg><\/summary>\n

Full dentures require daily care to ensure their longevity and functionality. You should clean them thoroughly after every meal. Hygienically cleaned dentures can also be worn overnight. The team of Dr. Andrea Gerdes & colleagues will specifically train you in the correct care of the prosthesis as well as your own oral cavity. <\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Can you speak well with a full denture?<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/svg><\/summary>\n

Yes, most people with full dentures can speak very well. Initially, there may still be some uncertainty, but this improves with regular use. We recommend a simple training at the beginning: Read aloud to yourself. Only in very rare cases can speech therapy exercises be helpful to optimize speech skills. <\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n
